Best Linux distribution for icecast kh

Hi Karl what’s the best Linux distribution for Icecast regarding speed and stability

We are going to install new servers with Ubuntu 20 Server. It’s the best option this distro, or better another, Debian, etc? What are your recommendations ? In internet we only saw posts of icecast installations until Ubuntu 18.

The difference between distributions will not be a factor from a speed/stability perspective. Threading, and other dependent libraries are similar if not the same and icecast is typically I/O bound. The speed factor is purely on network and CPU setup. If you use a VM setup then that can affect things.

For a pre-packaged facility, probably ubuntu, as others deal with that aspect, but if you build from source then it should not matter.
