Content Title and URIs

Issue explanation

It is usually a bad idea to automatically create URIs from the Content Title. It makes a more complex system to manage. Some of the issues are

  • Managing international characters
  • Managing title changes in the URI (301)
  • Truncation of "readable" URIs because the title is too long

On the subject of "web-scale URIs", what does it mean for the future of the web that our culture and its technological needs (e.g typing URIs) lead to the widespread need for all important URIs to be "top level URIs", i.e. http://exmplr.com/foo ?
