it would be useful to benchmark test collection times (--co) alone (sans xdist or any plugins) on old env and new env just to sanity check where the issue is....
this seems like it would be amenable to doing a concurrent future thread pool for the setup, assuming the underlying setup_node is thread safe?
i'm also seeing segfaults (ubuntu 14.04) using packaged version of libzmq (4.0.4), with libsodium (0.7 latest tag) czmq (2.2.0 latest tag), commenting out the zauth test, i get to this...
bridge crew uses a fork, not this repo fwiw.
the closest thing to a generic tagging service today is called resource group tagging api, its been out for a few years.
3.6 is end of life dec 2021 not 2022.. aka a few weeks out.
pull requests welcome, ideally the protobuf integration is limited to when using protobuf.
