COMMIT_EDITMSG buffer takes ~250ms to pop-up after staged.magit is visible

I'm experiencing a delay when committing using c c from the status.magit buffer. The staged.magit view pops up immediately, followed by the COMMIT_EDITMSG buffer with a noticeable delay (between 250ms and 1s).

This isn't related to commit-hooks as https://github.com/kahole/edamagit/issues/204 was - this happens in all respositories, most of them having no hooks at all.

This is on macOS 13.2.1 on a M1 MBP

I can verify that I am experiencing the same issue. Makes my workflow a bit clunky coming from emacs. Using linux manjaro.
