Proposal to Maintain Goofys in Different Fork
Hi all,
We've been using Goofys for over 5 years now at Statistics Canada. I believe this repo is stale, and the original author/maintainer @kahing no longer maintains it. I tried reaching out on different platforms but I did not receive a reply.
Goofys is an integral part of my Team's work therefore we will likely continue to maintain our fork and improving on the original code for the foreseeable future.
I am proposing using the fork https://github.com/StatCan/goofys as an alternative to this repo since it's not possible to commit any changes to the source code. We are committed to open source and to keeping this tool alive by enabling maintainability by the component.
Please feel free to discuss below.
I have some users using this and the seeming abandoned nature of this is frustrating for us too. We have looked at alternatives like https://github.com/awslabs/mountpoint-s3 but these don't fully address our needs.
Will keep an eye on your fork
If your use case don't require direct fs:s3 objects mapping somewhat 1:1, I published https://github.com/Barre/ZeroFS which should perform much better at the same time!
@Souheil-Yazji Were you going to make a new release/binaries on your fork?
Hi @Souheil-Yazji,
Do you have any macos binaries on your fork or do we need to use the build from scratch?
brew install goofys doesn't seem to work anymore
