Feature Request: Integrate Pidgin with User Status Menu

It would be great if setting the user status menu to "available" would log Pidgin in, and setting it to "unavailable" would cause it to go offline. There is an extension that does something similar for Skype that might be useful:

Two way integration would be even better, but I'm not sure if that's possible.

Adding this feature would allow this extension to integrate Pidgin as seamlessly into GNOME Shell as is probably possible.
