Add sd-card-saf-write-permission support

Open k3b opened this issue 5 years ago • 4 comments

APhotomanager version 0.8.3 and older only supports photos on sd-card when the sd-card is formatted as internal memory if you use android-7 and newer.

This ticket tries to add "ask for SAF-permission" support. to solve #95 #61 if android allows write access to external storage (sdcard, usb-stick)

Background: I broke my android-7.1 cellphone (which used the sd-card as formatted as internal memory) and the manufacturer "LG" of my new android-9 divce does not allow "format sd as internal). Fortunately i found the setting "allow app to write to external memory" in the developper settings.

SD-Card-write support is working in branch master and new-DocumentFile.

Starting with android-10 google has removed the capability to get geo data from the media database so the main purpose of this app: show/find photos through a geographic map is gone forever.

I spend several months of work to implement a shadow copy of the media database but in the end a gave up.

APhotoManger is dead :-(

What a pity. Although GEO info is unavailable, still this app is very very useful to manage metadata. May I know what's the diff between master and new-DocumentFile? Thanks.
