Not "one-click" install, no documentation, can't get it to work
I had great hopes for MNPP, but I'm giving up. There's nearly no documentation. What little exists is poorly written and confusing.
I'm on Mountain Lion and the installation is not "one click." The terminal commands don't do what they're suppose to do, and I can't even get past the "403" error page to access anything through a browser.
So unless anyone can point me to clear instructions in clear English (I've searched a lot), I'm giving up on MNPP and will stick with MAMP after wasting several hours trying to make MNPP work.
I think I figured out part of the problem. It seems the MNPP folder is set to RW for me, but no access to everyone else. I changed this to R for everyone, and things seem to be working better. I can now see the nginx page and phpinfo, but I don't see phpmyadmin.
Agreed documentation needs to be corrected so it's clear to users
Indeed:
- was able to figure out the installation process by some vimeo video (found with google)
- nginx didn't work after installation, but begin after reboot
- current readme.md file doesn't make sense, in particular the part about "Set environment"
- Calling commands from "Set environment" cause noising error message in terminal: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/12064725/dyld-dyld-environment-variables-being-ignored-because-main-executable-usr-bi (osx 10.8.5 in my case)
- phpmyadmin SHOULD be from the box, it is just cool
The project idea is great. Let me know if I can help.
Around phpMyAdmin, have you tried Sequel Pro? I think a lot of developers on Mac OS would be using Sequel Pro and wouldn't need phpMyAdmin.
Great application. Thanks, Daniel! Agree, phpMyAdmin can be taken out then.
Hey
Anyone, Could you help me to create the better documentation? I'm kinda busy.
I don't mind writing something on my "perfect English". However, some bugs should be fixed before?
