Remove all deprecated code for 1.0

Remove all code marked as @Deprecated or //TODO deprecated (or similar) before cutting 1.0.0 final. To maintain semver adherence, this cannot be done prior to the 1.0.0 release.

@UkrainianCitizen we only want to do this very last right before we cut the 1.0 release. We're not close to being ready to do that, so please don't start on it yet! That said, of course I'll be super happy to ping you when it's ready to be worked on :) Thanks for the offer!
