Feature Request: add option for status bar persistance across tabs

When I open a new tab, the download status bar only shows up on tabs where I've downloaded something already. Even with the "Always show the status bar" radio button clicked, When i open up a new tab, the status bar goes away.

It'd be great if a feature could be implemented that would let the status bar persist similar to how Chrome does it.
