Filed a similar issue on the main Phoenix Project (phoenixframework/phoenix#4877).
This ended up merged upstream (https://github.com/phoenixframework/phoenix/pull/4677). Did this get pulled into Petal? If it did, can we close this?
Maybe use a completely different name, like `setup/1`? At least that doesn't complicate `init/*` more. Probably should document it, too.

Making a note here for myself: Starting it with "java -Duser.dir=/some/dir plantuml.jar" seems to work on my Mac. Need to test on other platforms but this may work.
