Just found DO NOT ADD GOOGLEBOT. If you add Googlebot to this, you will not have a good day. comment in the code.

Could you please explain why? What happens if I add it?

The only thing I can think of is that the delay caused by Rendertron could negatively effect how Google ranks your site. Is that correct, @justinribeiro?

At the time I wrote that comment, I was trying to discourage people from sending Googlebot things you wouldn't send a user (which the guidance has always been from the webmaster team). This had nothing to do with Rendertron speed (which was more than adequate in 90% of the cases for most pages).

These days, adding Googlebot to the render makes even less sense because Googlebot is now evergreen and supports the latest JS features (https://webmasters.googleblog.com/2019/05/the-new-evergreen-googlebot.html).
