The result of recording is a black screen with traces of the mouse. I'm happy to help if there are pointers on where to start modifying.

Try this version:

LICEcap v1.31 for macOS (Feb 17 2021) (876kb DMG)

The problem with the black screen seems to appear as well if you are not recording the screen of your PRIMARY monitor.

Similar issue to https://github.com/justinfrankel/licecap/issues/31

Steps that worked for me:

  1. Disconnect external monitor
  2. Restart LICEcap
  3. Record screen of your primary monitor

I've resolved the issue by going to the Mac OS settings -> Privacy & Security -> Screen Recording, and allowing Licecap to record the screen
