Yes, that's exactly what would need to happen. Well, sorta. Google doesn't allow background services anymore, it would have to be a service worker with a periodic alarm to trigger...
Yep, it's still supported, though getting new features depends on me finding time to work on it or someone else submitting a pull request (which would be great).
