Actually this pull request is only the last commit, only the sh files. The others concern other pull request. If this commit is ok, maybe we should split this pull request.

Shouldn't the environment variables be set in order to the tests be able to run?

Thanks for trying to revive the test suite. The environment variables do need to be set in order for the tests to run. I had set up a dummy account for this, and stored its credentials as travis secrets, but I think that account got deactivated by Google. It may be possible to get it working again, but it would require a new account and a new set of env variables in CI.
