Left Navigation Jupyter AI Usage Question.

I just installed pipenv installed Jupyter AI and I have set an environmental variable for OPENAI_API_KEY and it worked out of the box super easy. See the image below.

My questions is simply around the purpose of the left nav in the picture below.

Questions:

  1. Where are they stored on my machine?
    • pipenv run jupyter --data-dir reveals the jupyter_ai config directory and I see the API key stored on my machine there.
  2. Why would it be asking me to re-enter my api key into these boxes?
    • This I don't know because I had it set in my .env file and that is why (as the screenshot shows) %%ai works.

So it kind of doesn't make sense to me why one part of this same application picks up on something that another part is blind to and would improve my quality of life to not need to have two locations for an OPENAI API key within this application.
