JupyterLab Extension Repo Naming Convention
In the Jupyterlab org we have 22 extensions name jupyterlab-* and 12 extensions with no "jupyterlab-" in the name, can we make a convention that we name all the extensions the same?
I personally vote for not using "jupyterlab-" in the name of repos that are already in the jupyterlab org. So "jupyterlab-commenting" would become "commenting" etc.
I strongly support and prefer removing the jupyterlab- from all repositories that are already in github.com/jupyterlab/______________
A downside of removing a leading "jupyterlab " is that forks on personal accounts will have much more opaque names.
Forks can be renamed and could add the jupyterlab- part? (although this adds an extra manual step).
That's a good point, @ian-r-rose, but I think the clarity of a nice URL for the repo is valuable enough to still recommend this convention.
Do you think it's a fatal flaw?
I don't think it's a fatal flaw, and as @jtpio points out, it can be renamed after the fact. Overall, I don't think I have a strong opinion on this, but I don't have any problem with the current jupyterlab- names.
