Snippets in ~/.vim/Ultisnips/*.snippets are not shown

The plugin works fine. I have defined my own snippets which are put in, say ~/.vim/Ultisnips/tex.snippets. When I type :Snippets, those are not shown in the list. How to get those snippets also to be displayed for selection?
