/e/ OS, I have been using this Rom for several months on Oneplus 5T and I am very satisfied with the experience.
I use it since nov 2018
as my phone os, because of his data privacy
approach, it's still under development but dev team do a hard work to make this project a good one.
I love this OS 👍 I've been using it since 2018 on a S3 then on S4, now on LG G5. Works perfect, low memory footprint, all functionnalities of android, respect of the privacy, a cloud with e-mail, drive, calendar... FOSS with its own store avoiding using Google Playstore and play service ! Thanks to the community and the /e/ fundation they will bring android versions o and p on most of the supported phone. Can't wait :)
@marmotte32 how did you do the cloud stuff with it?
I use NextCloud but it's android app doesn't cover all the stuff that Google has managed to cover. Is there something built into the e OS that allows this?
@jcklpe @marmotte32 it is based on nextcloud
have a look here you will have a description of what's /e/
!

@marmotte32 how did you do the cloud stuff with it?, before you set up the phone sign up for an /e/ e.email account then on the phone/ accounts and Nextcloud app sign in with your e,email details.
me2, i've been running /e/ on my main phone for work and personal now for more than a year, and am super satisfied about it. Privacy, decentralization and federation is the way!
👍 for /e/ as an Android opensource alternative
Could I install it on an original pixel phone? The original pixel doesn't get security updates anymore.
Have a look to the supported devices list

You can add a request of non support device, On this URL too : https://community.e.foundation/t/list-and-number-of-requested-devices/17475
I plan to buy a Fairphone with /e/ preinstalled in November. I have a good experience with Fairphones and what they called OpenOS at the time (Fairphone's owh ungoogled android); I now understand they actively rely on /e/ for this, which is reasonable.

haha I think you will find the move to /e/ a BIG improvement then, and be pleasantly surprised!
Not to be that guy, but technically Android is FOSS

At the same time I understand the need for a more privacy-focused alternative, and I understand Google is more and more using their tight grip on Android to further and further embed themselves into it. Might I suggest posing android, /e/, lineage, etc. as alternatives to closed source iOS instead of being open source alternatives to the also technically open source Android.
There are some new linux phones, mainly the PinePhone and Librem 5 by Pine64 and Purism respectively. Those might be good options and should be added to the list, and a lot of GNOME-based distros are getting mobile support via Phosh, a package by Purism to make GNOME work on mobile.
