Add ability to expand message body in notification area
Thanks for sharing your work!
I should probably be making this comment upstream on the gnome-shell repo...but figured this could possibly be accomplished with your extension as well. One area of gnome that feels half-baked IMO is the notification area, or message-tray...? After trying to hack something together on my own and looking through gnome-shells js, I still don't know what the area next to the calendar where notifications reside is actually called. So I will just call it the 'message-tray'.
Ideally, I would prefer to only have notification pop-ups enabled for a few select time critical things, and have the rest go strait to the 'message-tray' for viewing later. But that cannot be done in any clear way with how gnome handles notifications currently. As the message body gets truncated after a single line and you cannot expand the message. I receive a fair share of notifications that do not link back to any application...so viewing the entire notification from the message-tray would be the expected behavior in those situations.
Notification pop-ups have the ability to expand up to six lines, having a similar logic in the message-tray would be great. ie...expand the notification with a middle-click, then dismiss / open the linked application with a left click. Or something along those lines.
I assume programming something like this would not be a simple task, if its even possible right now. But I have to think I am not the only one that would love to see this added to gnome, or in a roundabout way with your extension perhaps.
Cheers.
