could you make just ONE global tooltip

Open ghost opened this issue 9 years ago • 7 comments

Hi. I often find myself seeing multiple leftover tooltips (even more than one) while moving mouse around and/or scrolling the page. Maybe it's possible to make just one global tooltip and automatically remove any leftover ones when new one is displayed?

Example: the tooltip of the right remained active, my mouse was on the left one screenshot multiple tooltips with linkrevealer

Thanks;)

Yup of course :) I'll have a look at it

I verified it and I cannot reproduce this bug. I tryed Twitter, Google and Facebook and it's impossible to have the same qtip twice.

Can you just tell me your extension options? Also, are you on the latest version?

I can't actually reproduce it myself when I want to, it just happens when it happens, not sure why and when. Sometimes there can be more than 2 active at the same time. Chromium Version 38.0.2107.2 (286086) (64-bit) Link Revealer 0.3 (I'm not sure how latest it is, I got it from the chrome store a 1 or 2 days ago) Here are my options:
Show as tooltip: checked Show after: 0 Highlight domain with color: yellow Show, relative to the window, at: Left Top

Thanks;)

Ok I found a way to reproduce it, or some variant of it:

  1. Go to a website page
  2. click a link
  3. hover on a link on this new webpage so that it shows in a tooltip
  4. press whatever the key for go Back is (for me it's a button on the mouse, but backspace key also works) to go to the previous page (in step 1)
  5. the tooltip remained, and hovering on other links on this previous page just adds a new tooltip to the already existing one.

this is not the only way to get this, because while I was check the arstechnica twitter page in OP, I didn't actually click on any links, but rather I would make new tabs of them and just scroll down in the same page. So there may be other ways, yet undiscovered by me, to reproduce this behavior of getting multiple tooltips.

EDIT: there's another way with just hovering on the links in the index on this page: http://pod.tst.eu/http://cvs.schmorp.de/rxvt-unicode/doc/rxvt.1.pod but I can't reproduce it with steps yet, I don't yet understand it, but it's just by hovering on those links in the index will sometimes leave one tooltip until hovering on it again; so can get two tooltips on screen this way too. here's a screenie, if relevant: linkrevealer03_test

Ok thanks, I'll take a look at it later :)

Alright. Thank you for your time on this.

Meanwhile I realized that the issue in OP screenshot was caused solely by mousewheeling through(possibly mixed with scrolling beyond the edges of the page), for I was able to cause it again(although I don't have exact steps to reproduce this) linkrevealer03_mousescroll_caused

EDIT: on another note, not sure why that "k" character appears before the link (in the tooltips)

This must be the easiest way yet, to reproduce, just hover over these links: http://pod.tst.eu/http://cvs.schmorp.de/rxvt-unicode/doc/rxvt.7.pod

would look like this: linkrevealer03_justbyhovering

sorry for the spam, just had to make sure you don't waste time with the previous ones which are harder to reproduce;)
