How do we know what is of (note, low, med, high}?

Maybe we can start to list events/examples, tag, then we can create potential rubric OR just list examples and compare.

The other way to think about importance is: where are the effects felt? In tooling, in licensing theory, in organizational governance advances, in operating systems, or in other kinds of technology areas? Some events kind-of affect everything in open source world, some only affect certain communities, regions, or kinds of technology.

Just food for thought; it would be interesting to build this as a "top level FOSS history" timeline, that others could then add organization or community-specific timelines that could be toggled on or off in some display mechanism.
