Interesting, the way it appeared on both instances of the map _and_ the time trial map select suggests a much deeper GPU driver issue to do with probably VRAM allocation...
I may have to convert all text to TextMeshPro in order to embed glyphs which... makes my soul hurt slightly, as this is something I should've done years ago anyway...

Yep, preferences file was emailed and confirmed corrupt. Fallback should be to backup existing (if applicable) and fallback to that if available or defaults if not.

IIRC also the spool-up time of 1 second is hardcoded (that'll be a much bigger pain to change with sound effects and multiplayer event signals involved!)
That's certainly a part of it, yeah - I don't really know a good way to make that easily configurable. It can be done it'll just be gross
