camera in steamvr not showing up

Open ccavanaugh18 opened this issue 3 years ago • 5 comments

I have been trying to get this set up and I have calibrated the camera and trackers, but when I launch steamvr I cannot see the white camera that you are supposed to be matching to the camera. I will connect to steamvr and then start then the window for the tracking opens but I do not see the camera. Any ideas how to get it working? I am on quest 2

edit: this has been solved

Also, do you need to be wearing the trackers when calibrating them?

As long as the trackers are sturdy and do not change shape when you wear them, you should be able to calibrate them without wearing them without any issues.

Same here! It detects the the trackers on the settings but trackers & camera are not showing up!

For some reason, the camera is rendered behind the square on the floor, even if it is in front of it. In most cases, this is the issue with the camera being invisible, and it should become visible if you move it outside the square using playspace calibration.

Another issue, relevant to the first 0.7 betas, is that the driver installer fails to enable multiple drivers in steamvr settings, which causes the ATT driver to not work properly. This should be fixed in the latest nightly release, available on the discord, just download that, overwrite your current installation, and run the install_driver.bat again.

Or, if that doesnt work or the problem happens again in the future, its possible to enable the setting manually. The instructions for that are on the wiki, in the manual driver installation section.

In the current version, the most common issue for this is that the camera is, initialy, in the center of the playspace, in the ground. Due to how steamvr renders things, this will cause it to appear invisible, but if calibration mode is on, you should still be able to grab it and move it. Alternatively, you can move it to a place it will be visible in manualy using the calibration values. Setting x and z to 0, and y to 200, for example, will cause the camera to be directly above you, and should be visible.

Also note that the camera is only visible in the empty steamvr space. In steamvr home, even if the dashboard is open, the camera is always invisible.
