virtual-chinrest does not support large viewing distances

Open Brice-xCIT opened this issue 3 years ago • 1 comments

Hello! We have integrated the jspsych-virtual-chinrest plugin, and it works nicely with good UX for most common cases. However when the viewing distance is a bit larger (e.g. 80cm) the little red ball does not go left-enough to allow it to traverse the blind spot. (I realize this is a shortcoming of the underlying virtual-chinrest library as well.)

It would be great if the plugin could support these larger distances - or if there is a maximum distance it is able to support, if it could provide instead a minimal UX to invite users to get closer to their screen.

Thanks, this is a great point. I agree that, if there's no response during the first blindspot detection attempt, ideally the plugin should include the option to show a message about getting closer to the screen, and maybe repeat the procedure. If we did it that way, I think we'd need to add parameters for the duration of each blindspot attempt and the number of times that the procedure should be repeated.
