What should be done

On 26th of Nov 2023 security support for PHP 8.0 ended (https://www.php.net/supported-versions.php). We should adjust the code base accordingly and remove support for PHP 8.0 in:

  • [ ] composer.json
  • [ ] github actions
  • [ ] README.md (php version badge)

  • release as a new major version
  • release on 27th of Nov 2023
