Animated GIFs will be supported in version 2.10, hence in my opinion there is no need for this feature anymore.
Normally, this third party dependency is pulled in by Pillow anyway. In my installations, I usually rely on Debian Buster. There all image formats are supported out of the box....
If you would use the official Python base image from DockerHub (which I use and is based on Buster), this should fix your problems.

yes. Unfortunately some unit tests fail when testing against Django-5, and I had no time yet to fix them. Be assured, I'm working on it.
