Describe the bug

  • The new tab with the link opens and then shuts quickly. Obsidian does not get the clipping.
  • However, the link itself appears in the browser history and will work if clicked
  • getting error:fetch.js:41 POST https://sentry.io/api/69811/envelope/?sentry_key=31109f033e4e4e079fb4ac6469656eb5&sentry_version=7&sentry_client=sentry.javascript.browser%2F7.64.0 net::ERR_BLOCKED_BY_CLIENT

Running test configuration works fine. Sometimes clipping works. The link https://jplattel.github.io/obsidian-clipper/clip.html?vault=... etc. appears in my history and if I click it it does work. It just doesn't work the first time.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. open the developer tools
  2. make a selection
  3. click the plugin
  4. tab will appear briefly and then closes
  5. the error will appear in the tools

Expected behavior I expected the clipped text to appear in Obsidian

I have had the same issue with both Edge (using the Chrome extension, on Windows) and Firefox (on Linux). The new tab with the link opens, the option to allow the extension to open Obsidian appears for a second then disappears - although it's hard to see as it happens quickly, it looks like it is selecting the option to deny access to Obsidian.

There may be a workaround (I have tested this on Edge/Windows and it works, but not on Firefox yet):

  1. Configure the extension, and choose "Test configuration"
  2. This gives you the option to allow the extension to access Obsidian - and it doesn't disappear.
  3. Make sure you select the option to always allow access to Obsidian
  4. Boom - it now works with any clipping.

@ianbetteridge I have the same issue on MacOs 13.6 with Chrome I want to activate the 'test configuration'; where do I find this option ? (I don't see it)

It's in the same place that you configure the extension, right at the bottom. Right click on the extension in your toolbar, and selection "Options", and then it's right down at the bottom just below "Save vault & Note configuration"

Aha, thanks for your support, I use another clipper https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/obsidian-clipper/hkfbbbooclabgjedfpeihhjjlgeclgnf but I have the same problem.
