Could you use the outcomeDetail hook instead? That gives you access to the OutcomeDetailEvent (https://nose2.readthedocs.org/en/latest/dev/event_reference.html#nose2.events.OutcomeDetailEvent) which includes the TestOutcomeEvent which has the traceback in the exc_info tuple.

I've been reluctant to put this on melpa since it's so incomplete, and occasionally has had emacs-crashing-level issues with things like macro syntax.

It sort of works by accident, because of the capitalization I think. There's no special support for giving the restriction in a different face. Or at least I don't remember...
