Battery Question

Sorry if this isn't the best place to ask this question, but I haven't found any other resources.

I want to buy the hegduino-v2 which is in stock at https://www.crowdsupply.com/alaskit/hegduino-v2 .. However, it states "battery not included" and the battery listed below is no longer available.

  1. Is having the battery a requirement to make it work?
  2. Will the battery become available again?
  3. If not, can I get any old "1000mAh LiPo battery" from Amazon to use with it?
