No longer getting any audio from 0.2

Open LiamDawe opened this issue 4 years ago • 20 comments

As of the latest release, it doesn't seem to actually get any audio.

Running in terminal:

[liam@liam-manjaro ~]$ /home/liam/Downloads/cadmus2.AppImage qt.qpa.xcb: QXcbConnection: XCB error: 5 (BadAtom), sequence: 547, resource id: 0, major code: 20 (GetProperty), minor code: 0 alsa_input.usb-ZOOM_Corporation_U-22-00.analog-stereo /home/liam/.cache/cadmus/librnnoise_ladspa.so

The Cadmus Denoised Output is just totally silent. The previous version worked.

If I can provide more info, let me know.

Also confirmed.

(both deb and appimage)

I think this may be an issue with the AppImage. Currently don't have the time to troubleshoot, but I'll loop back to this on the weekend.

I've tried it with just the zip download of the latest release, same issue.

Outputs this to terminal:

[liam@liam-manjaro ~]$ /home/liam/Downloads/cadmus/cadmus alsa_input.usb-ZOOM_Corporation_U-22-00.analog-stereo /home/liam/.cache/cadmus/librnnoise_ladspa.so

Then it sets up as expected, I can see the

Cadmus Denoised Output

but it remains silent.

I had revert to previous version. Same here on Arch with both cadmus-deb and cadmus-appimage from AUR.

Can confirm same issue on ubuntu 20.04, tried both deb and appimage releases for 0.0.2 . It will launch and allow selecting a source, the sink shows up, but there's never any actual output audio.

Same on Mint Cinnamon 20.

Seems to me that i have the same issue Also I can select "Monitor of Cadmus Microphone Sink" in PavuControl, but I can't actually select "Cadmus Denoised Output"

I've tried NoiseTorch and it works for me (Linux Mint 19.3) Maybe someone could use it too https://github.com/lawl/NoiseTorch

NoiseTorch is pretty good. I'm using it for the time being.

I dont know about what it writes to log. Installed from deb, no output on Pop OS 20.04

NoiseTorch is pretty good. I'm using it for the time being.

noisetorch has a very aggressive algorithm so it is not very usable for me. I love cadmus (first version), hope josh can sort things out soon.

This is a known issue and there is a fix available in #40. Please just stop commenting me too or "pls fix"

I'm using the latest release version and it's not working so again "pls fix" ;)

homamgamer avatar Sep 20 '20 21:09 homamgamer

I'm aware of that, I just find it ignorant to spam "please fix" in an open source project. Either fix it yourself or just don't comment. If you can't figure out how to use the available fix it's probably the latter.

l3d00m avatar Sep 20 '20 21:09 l3d00m

I can easily fix it but I didn't even know a fix existed. I googled a lot and this is the only GitHub issue that I found also, I think merging the fix with the original package would be better since the user doesn't have to go through these loops to just make it work, Cadmus's idea is that it's very user friendly, just install and activate, so this is counter-intuitive, anyway, thanks for the fix mention, and try to be nicer next time, I'm not just a dumb user.
