[Feature Request]: Spacers
Description
Thank you so much for making this, Jordan! I was really down after hearing the news about Bartender's mysterious new ownership, was so relieved to find an open source alternative.
This may sound silly and cosmetic, but I'd love to see support for spacers to add between menu bar items. I used this with Bartender to loosely group related icons. Not a deal-breaker, just figured I'd share!

In the meantime, You can use Spaced app https://sindresorhus.com/spaced to achieve the same thing.
@Write Thank you for the recommendation!
I'd ideally like to add labels in the spacers too, so that I can group menu bar items by name/emoji/sf symbol in the Ice bar. Makes it easier to find the item I'm looking for with 20+ items.
Big +1 for this. This is the only thing which I am missing from old Bartender times when I switched to Ice.
My workaround is using subtly colored BTT custom menu bar items. I forget things when I can't see them, and I'm also easily distracted by seeing all my stuff at once. This lets me squeeze a TON of extra functionality to my menu bar with minimal visual clutter.
In order from right to left:
- ♥︎ is for BTT's context menu
- Shortcuts icon — dropdown with all my shortcut folders and their contents (much cleaner than adding them to the menu bar through shortcuts)
- Context menu icon — shows a custom context menu I'm still building
- Window icon — shows Stage Manager as a dropdown
- ⌘ symbol — BTT action emulating a sticky ⌘ + click so I can move menu bar items easily with just a trackpad, leaving one hand available for snacks or beverages (critical)
If anyone tries this or has used something similar, I'd be curious to hear about it!
Tip: I tried fully transparent ones at first. They were a pain to keep track of, so I suggest either using something you can see, even if it's tiny or almost transparent.
@to-turion there is this app https://apps.apple.com/es/app/spaced/id1666327168?l=en-GB&mt=12
I use spaced: https://apps.apple.com/de/app/spaced/id1666327168
Spaced is a great app. I used it for a while, but it wasn’t quite as customizable as my ultra-fussy brain needed it to be. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for something simple and free.
