Way to select which styles have numbering

I would like to be able to limit number only to the heading styles (but not title or subtitle) which would allow for greater flexibility in numbering documents.

I'd still like the title/subtitle to appear in the TOC but without numbers.

Second this vote. I need to include the "title" in the table of contents, but to do this it needs to be a heading. This means that every part of my paper is under the first section. Would be lovely to have a "starting point" of where it starts adding numbers.
