ability to use font awesome pro
This might not be for everyone but for people who have font awesome pro this would be great and prevent the need for using another plugin. The pro version has many more icons in it.
- I would like the ability to upload the font awesome pro files (files are for life, subscription is limited)
- some people might want to use the font awesome CDN
Is it possible just to swap the font awesome font files for now?
Hi (again),
We already visited the possibility of font awesome pro with CDN and it's a simple replacement of the URL that's in there, the problem however is that listing of icons in the menu/Astroid Social icons and other places.
We have a json for all the font icons search in Menu item and other areas and that means all those have been replaced with premium icons when toggeled.
Including the CDN does allow the user to select and display preimum icons on the frontend using HTML. It's just being able to select them in astroid specific areas.
A slight variant on this issue as a thought:
- Would it be possible to have an option to select the full Font Awesome Pro library instead of the Free ones so that people can use the full set of icons within their Joomla site without having to re-add the library with another plugin.
- This option does not need to update the menu JSON. But if it doesnt, a small note that the list of icons in the menu drop down are not updated
- Again with this Pro option, there must be an option to use local assets and in this case the end user must upload them if not using the Fontawesome CDN. When the Pro option is selected then you can fill in username, password or upload pro files
- If there are any additional files, effects or other files in the pro verion they should be included
So I guess maybe in the plugin looks something like this:
@shoulders the pro options doesn't require a username/password on our end. You buy a subscription directly with fontawesome and use the following CSS on your website. That's it.
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://pro.fontawesome.com/releases/v5.8.2/css/all.css">
It works by default on localhost and on your website the CSS won't render until the domain you are using is linked to a valid license on the fontawesome website.
With that being said, the pro icons will work fine in HTML (if used directly via module,article or CSS) but the existing options that allow you to select the icons (menu & social icons element) won't have the pro icons in the search listings.
