Updating existing m3u playlist files

I apologize because I am rather new to some of this, this is a little more of a question. From what it appears, MPV can generate its own session based playlist, but can also open m3u playlist files as well. I see that this plugin can use the "backspace" key to delete items from the playlist, but they do not delete from the actual m3u file. I also see that this plugin can also save playlists as well. Is it possible to be able to open a m3u playlist file, delete items, and then resave that specific playlist file? or can you only save a new playlist file (using current date & time as playlist name) using this plugin? Hopefully what I am saying, makes some sense.

Not sure how much was achieved with this other post, my post is similar but is more of a way to overwrite an existing playlist file. Up to you if I should close this post and add my response to that post instead?
