How do i remove the day/time period colors and enable/disable redshift manual?

I guess you could set the day and night color temperatures the same and use the tray icon (or pkill -USR1 redshift) to toggle it on and off.

I ended up using cron to enable and disable the program based on the time of day:

0 21 * * * redshift
0 8  * * * pkill redshift
