Your app is becoming more important with these upcoming updates centered around exploration in preparation for the Trailblazers release and system colonization. Please review your app and update everything thanks!

Funnily enough, I've been looking at getting back into the black. Will try and take a look at what's what tonight...

Honestly, there already is a great alternative called OD Explorer. has bio stuff built in aswell. So no need for joncage to rush the updating of ed scout and rather take his time with it to make sure it's a good one.

Other than simply getting it working again (sounds like some folks had some difficulty getting it installed etc) was there a specific improvement you were looking for on top of that?

i know you did not ask me directly, but i think expanding the feature set to the remaining exploration (bioscanning) gameplay could be worthwhile. and ideally, if at all possible, removing the chrome browser dependency.

It's been a while since I was in the black but I'm planning on making a comeback. I'll take a look at what exo biology additions I can make.

I brought the app up to python 3.13 last night and it looks like pywebgui now supports other browsers. When I got it working it looked like it was using edge under the hood now but it should detect and use whichever browser you have on you machine from what I've seen.

Just need to fix some unit tests and check the packaging works properly. Might have a new version with those bits at least tonight.

Very happy to hear that :)

As far as new features the only thing I could say would stand out as the most useful feature would be some way to get an alert when biology is nearby the ship if it can legally be observed from the game logs or nearby rendering. The alert could say what kind of biology it is and maybe if possible how far away it is. I was playing with elite observatory https://observatory.xjph.net/ it claims to have a monitor feature but it doesn't work like I described. It just pops up after you scan the first object and gives you a distance notification so you can know when to scan again. It would be more practical to know when something new pops up that hasn't been scanned so I can hunt for it quicker than bobbing and weaving and using my eyedar to spot it out. Maybe there is limitations on what is read by the journal files since you have to scan existing data but perhaps after using the detailed surface scanner to generate bio overlays while in super cruise the data loaded from the journal files could be extracted and laid out on a flat coordinate map which could then be overlayed into a 2d radar minimap "think ocarina of time" and by comparing the current coordinates of the ship with the position of the map you can see if your in the zone for the heatmap and maybe even toggle between layers so you don't have to fly back away from the planet to get your bearings?
