some are saying that Getx is not good for big applications . is that true ? they said if you want to build a big application then you will have to use Bloc or riverpod

@RohitSadioura. what do you mean when talking about big application? If you will use BLoC or Riverpod then even small amount of screens will looks like big application. Also, GetX as state management is the best. Even 4.6.5 Tried to work with it in app with 40+ screens (without dialogs). No runtime problems, adding new functionality is seamless, no bloats. Is 40 screens big enough for you? Typical online store app has 20+ screens, banking app - up to 100 screens. Of course, these screens contain mostly dynamic data, fetching from server or local storage. Also, I'm working with realtime, so app can receive notification at any time and rebuild stored data.

Problem in another - if you have any doubts about GetX, because it has no any updates for a long time - it means that you don't paying attention at RC of GetX. An inattentive programmer will have trouble working using any framework. So maybe you really should use something another, to avoiding adding new issues here, like "I'm adding GetX to my pubspec.yaml but my app still not work as I dream"

BLoC and Riverpod - excellent state managements. As said people, who using it. There is a lot of side packages for bloc that trying to make using it easier, and some of them are almost has no bugs. You think, if app updating very often, this is sign of good code? Maybe. I don't know, my GetX was not updated for an year - and still working best. Maybe, I just forget how wonderfull is awaiting breaking changes because maintainers forgot to turn on his brains earlier. And your app will be the big app using BLoC aor Riverpod - you must import a lot of packages and code generators to make your work with them slightly less painfull. Riverpod also very good if you plan maintain and modify your app never. Because every new feature in your app will increase your pain exponential. But many people using it, and their apps are big. As man who ate only fastfood. Of course, both solutions wants just 30% more lines of code than GetX and readability of this code far more better than ASM or even C++, so you truly can use it. Probably. Also, you will learn something new, for example, BLoC architecture (is it used somewhere outside of BLoC package?), or singleton (funny moment - GetX has singleton deep inside, and some developers blame it, but same time hail Riverpod that enforce you to use singleton), instead of using old-school and wide used CLEAN or MVVC architecture. GetX is boring comparable BLoC or Riverpod - you just using it, without studying hours of youtube videos.

So, think twice. Maybe, GetX is not yours, because some developers won't use it, who have a lot of free from paid work time to record videos.

It seems that haters can do anything. Look at this. https://pub.dev/packages/getxx

I know some people like this, but truly don't understand their motivation - they spent a lot of time for hate, they subscribing to the GetX topics all around the internet just for blaming. Looks like hate is the reason of their life. This people really sick, have damaged psychics and I wonder why exactly GetX was choosen as a target. Maybe secret is in some existential inner conflict - they just can't imagine that something can do better and faster than they do, and this thought kills them from the inside.

Very interesting phenomenon.

By the way, try to look to the holywar against the Flutter - still a lot of articles where Flutter presented like slow and unmature solution that can be used only for MVP and extra small projects, and Dart language as dying relic.

So, maybe haters are just miserable creatures with very poor minds.

But as I always said - end user wants working app, and no matter what is the technology inside.

Of course, if GetX will have 5.0 version it will be very nice to raise popularity. Many packages has updates that only contains changes in readme or dependency, and there is no any question from masses - package is up-to-date.

So it will be good to publish somelike 4.7 version with some small fixes, for example - remove this 'dialog made by 3 lines of code' and make documentation of all extensions that GetX had. On the other side, GetX is heavy competitive advantage for solo developers and small teams, so maybe it's good that a lot of people trying learn to bloc )))

RohitSadioura I will prove it to you that Getx can work on big project, because I'm using GetX as the fast and easy state management library

kegadev avatar Aug 23 '23 14:08 kegadev

To be honest, an update was almost ready, so the new version of Flutter broke the new update. But today I fixed some problems, and I'm optimistic. We'll have a version 5 soon (once I fix RouterOutlet).

jonataslaw avatar Aug 24 '23 21:08 jonataslaw

Thanks for the answer. Flutter updates had broken my code twice in the past 2 years haha. So, I completely get it. It is good to know the project isn't dead tho. Happy coding bro 👍🏻

It is good to know the project isn't dead tho.

That's the good news for us, It is more delightful to read from the developer, that the GREAT library is not ready to be put into its final resting place :) Once again thank you, Sir @jonataslaw for sharing your wisdom.

Zaveri21 avatar Aug 25 '23 02:08 Zaveri21

I just started learning flutter and was looking for state management libraries, this one looks promising and awesome. Hope it doesn't die, cause as soon as I'm good with flutter I'm coming back to contribute.

GetX is like Svelte in the JS ecosystem. Simple, beautiful.... elegant

It was love-at-first-sight and always will it be.
