Please clarify the state of this project
Is this being maintained/developed or is it just a placekeeper to park old source code?
Also tried emailing you at the address listed on your Github profile, but that server seems to not be operative.
This is the original repository of panda-imap, as obtained from Mark Crispin. Unfortunately, the owner, Jonathan Abbey, disappeared some time ago. It has been forked to nkhorman/panda-imap and new developments should be handled there. Thanks for your interest!
@thierry-FreeBSD Merci bien pour votre reponse ponctuelle!
@lucize @mhei Could we pull from that instead of a state Greek mirror?
We should change only when the repo is official new upstream.
We should change only when the repo is official new upstream.
That might be problematic as JonAbbey seems to have gone MIA. Also, which upstream? Upstream to what? For LEDE, upstream is whatever we want it to be.
My point is that we should also have a look what other distros are doing and considering as "upstream". People using uw-imap on e.g. Ubuntu might expect similar behaviour, same features etc. when using it on OpenWrt/LEDE; they do not expect a fork when there is no really good reason.
I'm confused. Are we talking about users expecting the software (i.e. the service) to behave the same way, as a "black box"?
Or are we talking about dev's expecting the same sources with the same exact API and ABI, etc?
Because we can do the former without having to also do the latter.
FreeBSD ports use this repository now for mail/php7[2-4]-imap:

The imap module of PHP was compiled against cclient till now. But this lib is
unmaintained for over 7 years. When combined with modern OpenSSL there are
various crashes reported.
Switching to the fork panda-cclient fixes these issues. Therefore we make the
usage of Panda cclient the new default. If you want to use the old cclient,
you need to enable it now!

This article, dated 6 November 2014 (which is roughly the time you see @jonabbey's github activity heatmap stop, as well as postings on his various social media accounts), suggests that he passed away on Monday, 3 November 2014. He was a father and a great friend to open-source, apparently, so pour one out for him tonight you open sourcerors.
In any case, it would suggest that nkhorman/panda-imap is the new "official" maintainer repo, or however open-source works. :P
