Script execution doesn't work in Canvas view

Open Scratch and type ;;help; and the Help stuff gets printed.

Insert Scratch as a document in a Canvas, and type ;;help; into that document, nothing happens.

Nothing seems to happen in the Developer Tools log as I'm typing it either, no error messages etc.
