Error outputting file for N64MidiTool

Open NotFragile74 opened this issue 1 year ago • 4 comments

Hi, I'm trying to load a ROM into N64MidiTool, but no matter how hard I try, it keeps giving me the error message "Error outputting file", which won't go away even if I click OK. What's going on?

Probably bad rom? Not matching expected.

I don't think it's a bad ROM, because I tried loading other ROMs with it and got the same message. Ironically, loading it into N64SoundbankTool did fine, although it didn't load all the songs, which is too bad because there's one in particular that I want to make a disco remix of, and I find it would be easier if I had a MIDI or something from which to copy the notes. Trying to load the USF for that song into other programs did no good due to various errors and stuff.

For the record, the game I'm trying to load the ROM for is Perfect Dark, and the song I want is the beta version of the Deep Sea music, seen in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EY5z3sMpqdg

If you are trying to rip Perfect Dark, you can use the GoldenEye Setup Editor in Perfect Dark mode - https://github.com/carnivoroussociety/GoldEditor

I tried opening the PD ROM in GE Setup Editor and N64 Sound Bank Tool. Both will work, but I can't find the beta Deep Sea music among the files. I can find the beta combat simulator death music and the beta Mario-esque tones, but that one evades me.
