Feature Request: Change shape of cells of heatmap

I am trying to plot a categorical variable (olive track in left figure). But rather than a strip, I was wondering if it is possible to convert every category of uniform sized dots (like orange dots)

circos.heatmap(df$category, split = df$split ,rownames.cex = 0.3, col = promoter, 
cluster = F,track.height = 0.05,rownames.side = "outside", show.sector.labels = TRUE)

I tried using circos.points but I couldn't figure out how to plot points without making the tracks first
