The history of this library goes back quite a ways, it is derivative of this library: https://hmario.home.xs4all.nl/arduino/LiquidCrystal_I2C/

which is a derivative of the Arduino LiquidCrystal library which is licensed LGPL 2.1+ (where the "+" means, or newer).

So this library must be licensed as LGPL 2.1+
