general failure on some non-japanese .ts files

saw issue on some russian and brazilian .ts files. TS handling at a basic level does not separate file into 188 byte MPEG2TS packets. Could be these are not MPEG2 ts files. But app should fail gracefully with a meaningful message if this happens.
