setTimeout

In light of this article explaining the differences between setInterval and setTimeout, the latter seems to be a more appropriate fit for a content slider.

timer progress

It would be nice if the progress of the timer could be accessible. So if you are building a progress bar into the slider, you could pause the progress bar and resume from where you left off.
