request: remove arbitrary limits

Open M0ahgra opened this issue 1 year ago • 3 comments

examples of arbitrary limits:

  • songs length max 128 patterns
  • number of patterns max 128
  • pitch channels max 10
  • only 4 notes per chord
  • ...

going beyond such limits may not SEEM necessary to you, but to someone else it MAY b needed, so u should b able to do it if you want to. "if my computer can handle it then you can do it" is what i say!

there was a song i made once which was longer than 128 patterns, i had to cut it in half and splice the audio :(.

Most of these are available in JummBox, so I don't think Shak will bother extending these limitations much.

If I had to vouch for some though to be in vanilla BeepBox though, the note-in-chord limit of 4 and volume control are things I find most annoying...

agreed, 4 isnt enough for anything, things with a limit of 4 should b bumped up to atleast 8, the 4 level volumes r the most difficult for me to deal with

the 4 level volumes for notes, and the 8 level volumes for instruments is extremely limiting and i run into problems with these all the time.

i still have trouble with it, i try to reduce the volume of my tracks now to stop it from ramming up against the volume limit and getting compressed and i have trouble balancing the tracks because of these very outdated limits.
