Is this still an issue for you? I was thinking of putting some status information into the left-hand panel but it could only be narrowed if the "unlocated" pictures are completely removed. Given that the facility to locate them doesn't currently exist and would involve significant coding, that's certainly a possibility, subject to John's views. Alternatively, we need a "go full screen" button but I haven't seen that on any OSM-based site.

I do not think it so important. I see the system as a photo mapping manager. Photos for prove authorship of the mapping.
