From the pics included its not clear which wire goes exactly where (because of shrink wrap) If you could include a schematic with respect to the board and wire colors it will be great help.

I don’t think depending on the wire colors is a great idea. There is no guarantee two different cables will have consistent wire colors. Your best bet is to reference the schematic and use a multimeter to figure out which smaller wire corresponds to the tip/ring/sleeve of the connector

I kind of agree with op (and some others) here - maybe just a translation of how MSS / IMS might correspond to the various TRS wires? or what do IMS / M+ S+ S- actually mean?

As long as we’re referencing T/R/S here, (definitely not wire colors), I’m not sure what could go wrong. My Issue is that I’m not sure how the schematic correspondents to the labeling / layout of the board. It’s such a wonderful little design; could you please help us to explain the wiring a little more clearly?

@WojciechOchman, I simply used a multimeter to check for a short, connecting pin and lead. If that helps, months later ;)
