Special characters (and microsd)

I have the necessary questions.

First: I inserted a 4GB Microsd formatted with both ext4 and fat32 but evilcrow doesn't write anything on it. Why'?

Second: Don't logs record special characters (like <enter>, <tab>, <caps on>, etc.)?
