"Mark as read" button missing for notifications on current UI, can it be re-added?

So I noticed this recently while going through a bunch of them. I was unpleasently surprise that I couldn't just click that little blue circle that used to be there to mark them as read. Which makes no sense, because the notifications are quite detailed and I can read many of the comments they're about right there.

Can you clarify a bit? I don't recall seeing any blue circles in the notification panel, but there's a Mark all as read button.

I can't bring up the previous UI. But there was a blue dot if I'm not mistaken on the right of every notification item.

@mzso here's the Old New UI notification panel. I don't think I've seen the blue dots here as I used it before. Not sure if we can make this feature though, as we're uncertain how notifications are marked read on Reddit's end.
